Product Bulletin: Formula 8000 Powder
Live Bacteria Cultures For Use in Lakes and Ponds
see also Formula 8001: Live Bacteria – Dry Powder in dissolvable packets
and Formula 8050: Live Bacteria – Liquid Concentrate
APPLICATIONS:
Formula 8000 powder contains specially selected bacterial strains for use in lake treatment
applications including:
Reduction of fecal coliform bacteria ⢠Reduction of excess nutrients
Reduction of organic debris ⢠Improved water clarity
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Formula 8000 powder is an advanced biotechnical free-flowing powder which contains a
synergistic blend of eight bacterial strains, along with buffers, surfactant, and stabilized
enzymes to process excess nutrients in lakes. The powder is specially designed for use under
a wide variety of environmental conditions, including the anaerobic zone of the lake bottom.
Formula 8000 breaks down compounds normally difficult to biodegrade, such as unprocessed
grease, surfactants, cellulose, hydrocarbons and phenols. Lakes that are deficient in natural
microorganism communities or that have excessive nutrient levels can benefit from the
addition of Formula 8000, which will augment the naturally occurring microorganism
community. Formula 8000 has been used successfully to reduce fecal coliform counts in
recreational waters.
PHYSICAL CONTENTS:
The ingredients in Formula 8000 have been USDA accepted for use in federally inspected
meat and poultry facilities.
BACTERIA STRAINS:
Eight selectively adapted bacillus and pseudonomad vegetative strains (1B. Subtilis; 1B.
licheniformis; and multiple strains of the following: Pseudonomads, 2 Ps. florescens, 2 Ps.
Putida, 2 Ps. Oleovorens).
ENZYMES:
Lipase, protease, amylase, cellulase.
BUFFERING AGENTS:
Sodium bicarbonate, disodium phosphate, monosodium phosphate.
BACTERIAL COUNT:
Six billion colony forming units per gram. Each lot is batch-certified for our clientsâ safety and
satisfaction. Bacterial counts and salmonella negative certifications are supplied upon request.
Direction for Use/Application Rates:
Apply powder cultures by hand or mechanical spreader. Calculate dosage and treatment
schedule aas follows:. 1 acre foot = 325,000 gallons
Initial treatment – Apply 4 pounds of powder per acre foot of water.
If excessive plant growth is the target, and if algae season exceeds a 6 month time frame,
apply another treatment at the initial treatment rate.
Maintenance dosage – Apply 2 pounds of powder, per acre foot of water, every two weeks.
Because this is a preventative maintenance program, make sure not to exceed 2 weeks
between maintenance dosages.
